With more and more research supporting the idea that leisure time and relaxation are vital to emotional health and general happiness, many people are focusing on just how to use their time, money (and space!) to embrace whatever it is that they enjoy. Evidence of popular support for this movement can be seen in a new trend popping up: the she-shed. The idea is that a pre-fab, modular or even custom-designed and built shed (or small outdoor structure) is installed in the back yard. Some are dedicated to a particular hobby, like gardening, jewelry-making or yoga, while others serve as home offices, overflow guest space or whimsical getaways. Most she-sheds have power, but not plumbing (though, of course, that could be installed). there’s even a company in Colorado, Studioshed, dedicated to manufacturing pre-fab versions of these in several styles, using renewable resources. These particular ones are pretty modern, but there are as many types of she sheds as there are “she”s. To see some additional pictures and get some ideas, click here.
